Eulogy
When I arrived in Spain, just 5 short weeks ago, I was alarmed by her physical condition, as she was already showing marked deterioration on an almost daily basis during my short visit. She was, however, still indomitable, and remained so to her last day.
Millie was loved by virtually all she came in contact with. In just two years at the Residency, she seemed to have come to know and become endeared to scores of fellow residents, auxiliaries, nurses, Doctors, and maintenance personnel. This was due, in no small way, to the fact that she was a generous and caring person. In the time I spent with her during my visit she would often approach severely handicapped residents in her “modulo” to give them words of encouragement, or simply to greet them with a touch and a smile. This, in spite of the fact that she was, herself, already significantly handicapped by her illness.
Although I was expecting to find Millie as strong and vital as I had on my last visit several years ago, I feel fortunate that I arrived in time to spend part of each of my five days in Spain by her side and sharing loving moments with her.
She will be missed by those who knew her well and, naturally, by her family.
We love you Millie.
